Doing door to door evangelism online

AVITW puts an emphasis on building long term relationships and getting involved in the community rather than taking part in “hit and run” evangelism.

As a result it is necessary to build meaningful relationships before earning the right to share our faith. The question then arises, how do you make initial contact? Well we have discovered that the most effective way is through chatrooms.

A Chatroom is a superb opportunity to get talking to people and we find that they tend to be very open to discussing matters of faith.

Its hard to know what to say about our work in chat rooms. There is no set formula about how to share the gospel in them. The best way is to simply go and try it out. By spending time in the chat room you will find that you build friendships much quicker than purely through e-mail and so it is a very valuable tool. Below I have listed a few pointers:

Choose a name that is unusual as it is often a good talking point

Don’t be afraid of looking stupid. If you do make a mistake you can always leave and return using a different name.

Get people talking by asking them questions about their lives Show an interest in what people are saying

Look for opportunities to bring in the gospel and pray that God will provide those opportunities

If you are worried meet another Christian their who has done chat room evangelism before.

Don’t be afraid to mention your faith. People are much more open online.

Remember that people who visit chat rooms want to talk and so are open to discuss your faith

Don’t condemn others for their actions

ALWAYS ASK TO EXCHANGE
E-MAIL ADDRESSES WITH ANYBODY YOU MEET BEFORE THE CONVERSATION ENDS AND MAKE SURE YOU E-MAIL THEM IMMEDIATELY.
